Nokia today announced a leadership transition. Nokia’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Pekka Lundmark, has informed the Board that he will step down. The Board has appointed Justin Hotard as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of Nokia. He will start in his new role on 1 April, 2025.

Ericsson's Nigerian unit has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian government to establish a cooperative framework for the development, deployment, and innovation of 5G technology.

The November 2024 edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report projects that total mobile subscriptions in Sub-Saharan Africa will grow at an annual rate of 4%, increasing from 950 million in 2023 to 1.2 billion by 2030.

Ericsson’s Q3 2024 report showcases major advancements in strategic and operational priorities, including growth in programmable networks and mobile network contract wins across multiple markets. A notable development was the establishment of a joint venture with leading mobile network operators to secure a global supply of Network APIs. Additionally, Ericsson signed further 5G patent licensing agreements, with projected intellectual property rights (IPR) revenues expected to reach at least SEK 13 billion in 2024.

5G Standalone (5G SA) and 5G Advanced are expected to be key focuses for communications service providers (CSPs) for the remainder of the decade as they introduce new capabilities to create offerings centered on value delivery over data volume. The analysis is included among a wealth of statistical network insights in the November 2024 edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report, which extends the forecast period to the end of 2030.
